[How to] How to enable Sitebuilder support for domains in Plesk 8 and Plesk 9?

Resolution

You need to register Parallels Plesk Sitebuilder in Parallels Plesk Panel. To configure integration you should login to Parallels Plesk Panel as admin and change to page {Server -> Sitebuilder Support} for Plesk 8 and to page {Home -> Sitebuilder Settings} for Plesk 9.

The following fiends exist on the page Sitebuilder System Administrator's preferences:

  • Sitebuilder server URL. Ensure that this address resolves properly in DNS      
  • Username for server administrator's login to Sitebuilder    
  • Administrator's password
Sitebuilder server URL is set to sitebuilder.<FullHostName> by default and cannot be changed through the control panel. The URL can be changed with Plesk utility /usr/local/psa/bin/sitebuilder. For details refer to articles http://kb.parallels.com/en/3595.

Specify valid login credentials for Parallels Plesk Sitebuilder and click button OK to register.

After registered new submenu Sitebuilder appear in left mail menu. Now you may enable Sitebuilder support for clients and domains.

Before enabling Sitebuilder support for Plesk domain it is required to enable it for the Reseller or Client that owns the domain first.

- Enable Sitebuilder support for client <client name> in Parallels Plesk Panel 8:


Clients -> <client name> -> Preferences

Check option Keep the corresponding user account in Sitebuilder and click button OK to confirm.

- Enable Sitebuilder support for client <client name> in Parallels Plesk Panel 9:

Home -> Clients -> <client name> -> Interface Preferences

Check option Create a corresponding user account in Sitebuilder and click button OK to confirm.

After that you may enable Sitebuilder support for domain.

- Enable Sitebuilder support for domain in Parallels Plesk Panel 8:

Domains -> <domain name> -> Setup

Check option Create and publish Web site using Sitebuilder and click button OK to confirm.

- Enable Sitebuilder support for domain in Parallels Plesk Panel 9:

Home -> Domains -> <domain name> -> Web Hosting Settings

Check option Create Web site using Sitebuilder and click button OK to confirm.

Button Edit in Sitebuilder becomes enabled on the domain management page.
It allows to open the site in Sitebuilder wizard for editing.

Additional information

When Sitebuilder support is enabled for Plesk client (Home -> Clients -> <client name> -> Interface Preferences) new Sitebuilder user with role Reseller and user name <client login>@<FullHostName> is created in Sitebuilder. Also appropriate record is added to Plesk database, in table psa.SBREsellers.

When Sitebuilder support is enabled for Plesk domain (Home -> Domains -> <domain name> -> Web Hosting Settings) new Sitebuilder user with role Site Owner and user name <domain FTP user>@<FullHostName> and site with alias <domain name> are created in Sitebuilder.  This new Sitebuilder site is confired for publishing to FTP location of Plesk domain.

On Sitebuilder side Site Owner <domain FTP user>@<FullHostName> is owned by Reseller <client login>@<FullHostName>. Appropriate record is added to Plesk database, in table psa.SBSite.

Where FullHostName is full hostname of Parallels Plesk Panel.
