1. Topic:
Updated packages for Parallels Virtuozzo Containers 4.0 provide a number of
user-level tools fixes for the Container package management, migration, backup,
and restore functionality.
2. Problem description:
- After removing Parallels Virtuozzo Containers 4.0, a number of empty
directories may remain on the physical server.
- The libblkid1 package cannot be installed inside Containers based on the
OpenSuSE-11.0 EZ OS template.
- Multi-volume backups cannot be created on mounted Samba shares.
- During the vzbackup -e 1 -x 1 command execution, no backup archives should
be created.
- The vzpkg link command fails for Containers created on the basis of VZFS v2.
- Parallels Virtuozzo 4.0 cannot detect when Containers using the Upstart
init daemon reach the default runlevel.
- After migrating a Container from one Hardware Node to another in the
Virtuozzo Group, the VEID parameter in the Container configuration file
becomes empty.
- Executing the vzstat -t command displays all Containers residing on the
Hardware Node instead of showing 10 most resource consuming ones.
- The vzpkg update command may fail for the ubuntu-8.04 EZ OS template.
- Running the vzveconvert utility on the Hardware Node may leave a Container
in a broken state.
- The --check-only option does not work with the vzpkg update cache command.
- Running the vzpkg update metadata command does not update the metadata of
the corresponding EZ OS template if the elapsed time from the last vzpkg
cache update does not exceed the value of the METADATA_EXPIRE parameter.
- Running the vzpkg update metadata command may not update the metadata of
those Plesk-related application templates that use the same repositories.
- Some Debian packages cannot be included in the appropriate OS template due
to problems on the OS template caching stage.
- Running the vzpkg create cache command concurrently on Hardware Nodes
sharing the same /vz partition may fail.
- The process of migrating a Container from one Node to another fails with the
following error: 'vztt_get_vzdir() error'.
- During its execution, the vzup2date utility may install optional packages
that were not present on the Hardware Node before.
- Running the vzup2date utility concurrently on several Hardware Nodes sharing
the same /vz partition may fail.
All Virtuozzo Containers 4.0 users are advised to update their tools packages.
3. Affected components description:
- vzctl is the primary tool for Container management. This tool is used
to create new Containers, start and stop them, configure their parameters,
etc.
- vztt is a set of tools used to manage EZ templates. EZ templates introduced
in Virtuozzo 3.0 for the first time are more flexible and easy to manage as
compared to standard templates.
- vzup2date is a utility used to update your Parallels Virtuozzo software
and templates and to keep them at the most recent version.
- vzbackup is a tool for backing up and restoring Containers.
- vzmigrate is a utility used to migrate Containers from one Hardware Node to
another.

You can download and install this tools update using the
'vzup2date' utility included in the Virtuozzo Containers 4.0 distribution.
This update can be downloaded also via ftp from downloads.swsoft.com.

First, use the "rpm -Fhv" command to install the new Virtuozzo tools
