Screen resolution is not restored after disconnecting Parallels Access

Symptoms

After disconnecting Parallels Access from my computer the screen resolution does not restore automatically.

Resolution

on a Mac:

  • Open System Preferences
  • Click on Displays
  • Manually adjust screen resolution

on a PC:

  • Click on Start
  • Click on Control Panel
  • Open Display
  • Click on "Adjust resolution" link
  • Manually change resolution settings
