Symptoms

After installing Parallels Tools inside Windows 2003 virtual machine network card does not have drivers. Device Manager shows error for the device:

Resolution

Switch network adapter type to Intel e1000:
~# prlctl set VMNAME --ifname NIC --adapter-type e1000

NOTE: Driver is already provided by Windows 2003 x64, for 32-bit OS download the driver from the vendor's website:
Intel® PRO/1000 and Gigabit Network Adapters
