Open in Internet Explorer icon is missing in Safari

Symptoms

There is no Open in Internet Explorer icon in Safari browser for OS X; you do not see it where it should be and you are unable to open this webpage in Internet Explorer of your Windows Virtual Machine in Parallels Desktop 8:




Cause

  • You did not restart Safari before using this feature
  • Parallels Desktop 8 extension for Safari browser was not installed

Resolution 

Close Safari browser and open it again

If the issue still persists:

  1. Open Finder, go to Applications
  2. Right click on Parallels Desktop application > Show Package Contents...
  3. Proceed to Contents/Library/Safari/Extensions
  4. Launch OpenIE.safariextz file and install the extension
