How to install/reinstall/upgrade PVA Agent on PCS 6, PSBM 5, or PVCfL 4.7 HW Node

This article describes how to install, reinstall, or upgrade PVA Agent to version 6.0 build 6.0-2160 on Parallels Cloud Server 6.0, Parallels Server Bare Metal 5, or Parallels Virtuozzo Containers for Linux 4.7 Hardware Node.

IMPORTANT NOTE: The build supports only Parallels Cloud Server 6.0, Parallels Server Bare Metal 5, and Parallels Virtuozzo Containers for Linux 4.7.

If your server is running other versions of Parallels virtualization software, either consider upgrading to the latest updates or refer to the PVA Agent compatibility table provided in the following article:

For 64-bit (x86_64) nodes, follow these steps:

  1. Download the PVA Agent installer.

    wget http://download.pa.parallels.com/pva/pva-setup-deploy.x86_64
    
  2. Add execute permissions on the file.

    chmod a+x pva-setup-deploy.x86_64
    
  3. Extract the installer.

    mkdir /root/pva_install
    ./pva-setup-deploy.x86_64 -d /root/pva_install --extract
    cd /root/pva_install
    
  4. Uninstall the current PVA Agent.

    NOTE: This step is required for the reinstallation procedure only. Otherwise, you may skip this step.

    ./pva-setup --uninstall
    
  5. Launch the PVA Agent installation.

    ./pva-setup --install
    

For 32-bit (x86) nodes, follow these steps:

  1. Download the PVA Agent installer.

    wget http://download.pa.parallels.com/pva/pva-setup-deploy.i386 
    
  2. Add "execute" permissions on the file.

    chmod a+x pva-setup-deploy.i386
    
  3. Extract the installer.

    mkdir /root/pva_install
    ./pva-setup-deploy.i386 -d /root/pva_install --extract
    cd /root/pva_install
    
  4. Uninstall the current PVA Agent.

    NOTE: This step is required for the reinstallation procedure only. Otherwise, you may skip this step.

    ./pva-setup --uninstall
    
  5. Launch the PVA Agent installation.

    ./pva-setup --install
    

For 64-bit (x86_64) nodes with limited Internet access, follow these steps:

  1. Download the full PVA Agent distribution.

    wget http://download.pa.parallels.com/pva/downloads/linux/x86_64/pva_agent-linux-x86_64-6.0-2160.tar.gz
    
  2. Decompress the archive.

    mkdir /root/pva_install
    tar -xvzf pva_agent-linux-x86_64-6.0-2160.tar.gz -C /root/pva_install
    cd /root/pva_install/pva_agent
    
  3. Uninstall the current PVA Agent.

    NOTE: This step is required for the reinstallation procedure only. Otherwise, you may skip this step.

    ./pva-setup --uninstall
    
  4. Launch the PVA Agent installation.

    ./pva-setup -r local --install
    

For 32-bit (x86) nodes with limited Internet access, follow these steps:

  1. Download the full PVA Agent distribution.

    wget http://download.pa.parallels.com/pva/downloads/linux/i386/pva_agent-linux-i386-6.0-2160.tar.gz
    
  2. Decompress the archive.

    mkdir /root/pva_install
    tar -xvzf pva_agent-linux-i386-6.0-2160.tar.gz -C /root/pva_install
    cd /root/pva_install/pva_agent
    
  3. Uninstall the current PVA Agent.

    NOTE: This step is required for the reinstallation procedure only. Otherwise, you may skip this step.

      ./pva-setup --uninstall
    
  4. Launch the PVA Agent installation.

    ./pva-setup -r local --install
