Guidelines
This article gives general information on how to upgrade Parallels Desktop 4 for Windows and Linux to Parallels Workstation 6. You need to follow these steps:- Locate the Parallels Workstation setup file (either on the installation disc or on your computer if you downloaded it from the Parallels website), start installation, and follow the wizard instructions. For more information, please refer to the Parallels Workstation User's Guide available online.
- If you had any virtual machines registered in Parallels Desktop 4, they wouldn't be registered in Parallels Workstation. You need to import them manually: in Parallels Workstation, click File > Add Existing and follow the wizard instructions. For more details, refer to Parallels Workstation User's Guide.
Troubleshooting
You may receive the following error message when trying to upgrade to Parallels Workstation 6:

Resolution
Select 'Yes' to upgrade to Parallels Workstation 6. The Installer will remove the existing Parallels Desktop 4 installation and upgrade the software.
You will be able to use your old virtual machine(s) in Parallels Workstation 6.
